Supporting Resources for the Transition to ISO/IEC 17025:2017

There are many supporting resources that can be found on the CALA web site ISO/IEC 17025:2017 transition page to help those laboratories being assessed to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.  These include:

▪️A FAQ document - updates have been made since the last newsletter.

▪️A 17025:2017 crosswalk comparison chart.

▪️Various training courses and webinars to support the transition.  Please see the training section of this newsletter for course details and dates.

CALA recognizes the challenges during this first year of the transition.  So, please remember that laboratories being reassessed this year have 60 days to address any non-conformances (instead of the usual 45 days).

Recent Document Updates for the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard

CALA staff are busy updating documents to reflect the transition to ISO/IEC: 17025:2017.  This link will bring you to some of the more common checklists and the P07-2017 – Application of Requirements in ISO/IEC 17025:2017.   You are encouraged to check this web page regularly, as it will be updated as documents are completed.

For a complete list of documents updated since the last newsletter issue, see the section entitled Documentation Updates.

Revised A02 - CALA Rating Guide

Note that the revised A02 – CALA Rating Guide is essentially the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard in a checklist format.  Since this checklist is the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 verbatim, copyright rules prevent CALA from making this document publicly available.  The good news is that if you have a copy of the standard you already have a copy of A02 – CALA Rating Guide!

Have you received a questionnaire regarding your transition plan?

All labs being assessed to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 were sent a questionnaire by e-mail regarding their transition and implementation plan.  A reminder that May 1st is the deadline to submit your completed questionnaire.   In addition, documentation on how the new or changed requirements are going to be addressed must be submitted to CALA six (6) weeks in advance of the assessment as part of the pre-assessment documentation requirements.

If you do not recall seeing this questionnaire, please contact Karen Smith by email at ksmith@cala.ca or by calling 613-233-5300, extension 226.
