New Accreditation Agreement for OSDWA Laboratories
June 26, 2008
To:Laboratories Licensed under the OSDWA
Re:Changes in Accreditation Requirements for Licensing Purposes
The current MOE/SCC/CALA Agreement for the Accreditation of Drinking-Water Testing Laboratories expires on July 31, 2008. The recently signed MOE/CALA Agreement for the Accreditation of Drinking-Water Testing Laboratories comes into effect on August 01, 2008. This means that laboratories performing drinking-water testing in Ontario now have the option of choosing an accrediting body, to meet the requirements for accreditation prior to a license application.
If a laboratory opts for accreditation by CALA, it must complete a statement of intent. To ensure a smooth transition and that there are no gaps in accreditation status, laboratories must complete and submit this statement of intent by July 15, 2008.
For details on transfer of accreditation, please review the following documents:
- CALA Policy on Transfer of Accreditation (P26)
- Statement of Intent
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Terms and Accreditation of Accreditation and/or Proficiency Testing (P04, Section 5.0)
If after review of the documentation there are still questions relating to the process, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Erinn Cummins, Program Administrator (ecummins@cala.ca)
